EAGLE XG® Slim Glass Substrates
As consumer demands for sleek, lightweight portable devices are increasing, Corning is meeting that need by introducing EAGLE XG® Slim—a thin, environmentally friendly glass substrate currently available in glass sizes up to Gen 5 at 0.4 mm thickness.
Corning’s proprietary fusion process is uniquely suited to creating thin glass of pristine surface quality, with no practical limit on how thin the glass can go in support of known and potential display applications.
As an added advantage to portable device manufacturers, EAGLE XG Slim requires no additional panel thinning, eliminating the costly etching process that uses harmful chemicals. In addition, Corning’s technical support program helps customers solve the handling challenges associated with adopting thinner substrates, speeding time to market.
Looking ahead, Corning is also developing 0.3 mm substrates for gen sizes that support portable electronic devices. As LCD TVs and other large displays continue to drive to thinner form factors, Corning will be introducing additional gen sizes and thicknesses to support these larger applications.
