Leadership Message

Corning Incorporated is proud to acknowledge over 40 years of its Diversity Journey. Just as diverse individuals inherit unique genetic codes, Corning has a distinctive heritage and culture unlike any other company. Our respectful reliance on Diversity and its essential role in our success is deeply ingrained in all of us. Diversity is at the heart of who we are as individuals and as a company. Diversity is in our DNA.

Corning’s Diversity DNA is comprised of five “key strands” that serve as fundamental elements to guide us on our continuing journey. We operate with a Global Mindset, support a Culture of Collaboration, foster a Passion for Learning, encourage Employee Development and Value The Individual. These key strands of our Diversity DNA shape the ways in which we Relate, Operate and Innovate at Corning. This “ROI” on our investment in Diversity positions us to seize global market opportunities and to fully leverage the best in all of our employees.

Corning’s employees are diverse not only in gender, ethnicity and race, but also by age, sexual orientation, work styles and levels, perspective, education and skills. We support Affinity Groups which help our company to understand the concerns of diverse employee groups, identify organizational barriers and make positive changes to create a more inclusive culture. Because of our commitment to Diversity and inclusion, we have been ranked by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 Best Companies to work for. In addition, we have received numerous awards such as the Equality in Leadership Award, the Emerald Award and the Percy Julian Award.

While we are proud of our accomplishments, we know there is more work to be done. We know that diversity doesn’t belong to one area or one person; it belongs everywhere and to everyone. We embrace difference and understand there is a transactional nature to how we learn from each other, adopt new practices, grow and evolve. We are committed to continuously improving Diversity to make Corning a better version of itself.
